Hoshen Dog Tag Pendant in Sterling Silver

This beautiful dog tag sterling silver pendant is encrusted with Hoshen stones and the side is engraved with the words 'Avnei Hoshen', meaning Hoshen stones. The Hoshen or Priestly breastplate was a sacred piece worn by the Kohen HaGadol- High Priest. The twelve jewels embedded onto the breastplate were to be made from specific minerals, none of them the same as the other, and each representative of the 12 tribes of Israel. According to Rabbinic tradition, the names of the tribes were engraved onto the stones with Naxian/emery stone.
