Iran President Ahmadinejad Survives Assassination Attempt

This just in: An assassination attempt was just made on Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. According to the report, ”A hand grenade exploded next to a vehicle carrying reporters accompanying the president in Hamedan,” Iranian website Khabaronline reported. Ahmadinejad’s personal vehicle was 100 meters away from the actual explosion, and the would-be assassin was detained.

Ahmadinejad blamed the attempt on Zionists. He was quoted as saying earlier this week that Israel was trying to take him out. “The Zionists have sent people to assassinate me,” he said. ”Look how hopeless they are.”

According to Iran’s intelligence minister, “Zionist” elements had also met in Egypt and Paris with an Iranian opposition group in order to make plans for an assassination attempt.

The figurehead was on his way to give a speech in a sports arena at the time.
