Gold Plated Earrings with Roman Glass and Qumran Sundial

These gold plated earrings have a round shape and are modeled after the sundial used at Qumran in Southern Israel. The earrings have a fine polished finish and have Roman Glass beads hanging from the bottom that are pale in color. These earrings have a stud shape. This item is a great Bat Mitzvah gift idea!

The Sundial was an important tool for the Jews living in Israel during the Second Temple Period so that the dates of the various festivals could be calculated accurately. The original sundial these earrings are based on features inscribed lines on concentric circles and likely had a post in the middle. The letter Ayin appears at the bottom of the sundial.

These earrings come with a certificate from the Israel Museum as well as a small pamphlet with background information in Hebrew and English.
