I just came across the 9 rules of property ownership for kids. It’s in Hebrew but I’ll translate it for you. I get the feeling sometimes that this applies just as equally to adults.

Laws of Ownership for Kids


  1. If I like it, it’s mine.
  2. If I’m holding it, it’s mine.
  3. If I can take it from you, it’s mine.
  4. If I had it a few minutes ago, it’s mine.
  5. If it’s mine, it can never even look in any way whatsoever like it’s yours.
  6. If I build or make something, all its parts are mine.
  7. If it looks exactly like mine, it’s mine.
  8. If I think it’s mine, it’s mine.
  9. If it’s yours and I steal it from you, it’s mine.
