This interesting poster contains a replica of a map of the Middle East that was drawn by Gerardus Mercator during the 16th Century and includes national borders, mountain ranges and rivers. The countries appear in shades of blue, pink, red, green, yellow, orange and white. The outer edges of the map have numbers and the countries are labeled in Latin. The top right corner of the map also features Latin text. This item is a great addition to a poster collection!



This poster’s map was drawn as part of an atlas of maps by Gerardus Mercator, the famous cartographer who created the Mercator Map Projection. The map was drawn in the late 1500s and was based on a map drawn by Ptolmaeus in the First Century CE.



This poster comes with a certificate from the Israel Museum as well as a small pamphlet with background information in Hebrew and English.
