The protesters conveyed that much tougher sanctions must be taken in order to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), the political umbrella of exiled Iranian opposition groups, drew tens of thousands of opponents to Iran’s current regime to a rally outside of Paris today. Police estimated that over 30,000 people were present at the demonstration. Demonstrators were mainly headed by the Iranian exile group, and were backed by international politicians.

In her speech at the rally, NCRI president Maryam Radjavi called for democracy in Iran and to end the Islamic rule in the country. She told the crowd at the event, that took place in a northern suburb of Paris:

“creation of a new society, based on freedom, equality, democracy, respect for human rights and separation of religion and state…The Iranian people will continue to resist until the dictatorship is overthrown”.
