Silver Pendant with Bukharian Amulet and Floral Pattern

This silver pendant features a Bukharian design that includes a floral pattern on the back and a Hebrew inscription on the front.

This silver pendant features a design that hails from 19th century Bukhara in Uzbekistan and features a Hebrew inscription as well as a floral pattern. The inscription on the amulet includes the final letters from the first paragraph of the book of Genesis and spells out the abbreviation “Tsmarcad Kuz”. The amulet also features a floral pattern and the name of the original wearer, Moses son of Judah, who was born on Saturday, 25 Tishrei, 5613 (1852). This item is a perfect gift for any occasion!


Amulets were worn all over the Jewish word during the Mishnaic and Talmudic eras but fell out of use in Europe with the passage of time. This amulet originally came from Tashkent, Uzbekistan, the seat of Bukharian Jewry.



This pendant comes with a certificate from the Israel Museum as well as a small pamphlet with background information in Hebrew and English.
