Silver and Roman Glass Brooch with Oil Lamp

This silver and glass brooch pin has a unique shape that includes two horns at the top and a bell shaped bottom. The bottom section of the brooch features small silver leaves handing from the bottom edge and the center features shards of Roman Glass. The top of the pin features two thin horns and has been styled so that it appears to be an ancient artifact. This item is a great gift for the lover of Israel!

Oil lamps were the main way to light up a room during the ancient era. The shards in the center of the brooch originate on the coast of Israel, where they were formed via blow-pipe and furnace and date to the 6th century CE. The color comes from the passage of time and natural processes of weathering and erosion as well as oxidation.

This pin comes with a certificate from the Israel Museum as well as a small pamphlet with background information in Hebrew and English.
