Silver Medallion Set with Pidyon HaBen Coins and Design (5 Coins)

These sterling silver medallions are adorned with Hebrew and English text as well as images of a sleeping baby and small coin replicas. The back of each coin is decorated with an image of the Aleppo Codex together with names of great rabbinic leaders such as Maimonides. The front of each coin features the baby and coin replicas echoing the Pidyon HaBen ceremony as well as a verse from the Book of Exodus. The Aleppo Codex is one of the oldest complete manuscripts of the Torah that came from Aleppo, in Syria.

The Pidyon HaBen is the Redemption of the firstborn that is performed one month after birth of a firstborn baby boy when the parents are not from the tribe of Levi. This set of medallions allows the ceremony to be performed in the manner prescribed by Jewish Law. The ceremony has its origins in the aftermath of the Sin of the Golden Calf, when the firstborn males lost the right to serve in the Temple. This item is perfect gift for a family celebrating the birth of a firstborn son!

This coin was produced in Israel by the Israel Coins and Medal Corporation that produces official medals for the State of Israel as well as other high quality jewelry and Judaica items.
